How central MEV works

Continuous mechanical extract ventilation removes stale and humid air from wet rooms. Fresh air enters through suitable background ventilators. MEV does not recover heat or provide mechanical supply air. Background ventilators are not included in this kit.

Check your project before ordering

Extract-room count is not the total number of rooms in the house. The floor area, occupancy, wet-room mix, duct routes and available unit connections all affect the final design. Pipe quantities are estimating allowances; longer routes may need extra materials. Send BPC your plans for confirmation of the ventilation design and final materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a single room MVHR unit?

A single room MVHR unit is a compact heat recovery ventilation unit designed to ventilate one room or a specific area. It helps extract stale air while bringing in fresh air and recovering heat from the outgoing air.

  • Where can single room MVHR units be used?

Single room MVHR units are often used in retrofit projects, apartments, extensions, bedrooms, living spaces and other areas where targeted ventilation is required.

  • Do single room MVHR units need ductwork?

Most single room MVHR units do not require a full ductwork system. They are usually installed through an external wall, although installation requirements vary by product.

  • How noisy are single room MVHR units?

Noise levels vary by model and operating speed. Correct sizing and installation help keep operating noise low, particularly when the unit can run at lower background speeds.

  • Can multiple single room MVHR units be linked together in one property?

Some single-room MVHR systems support paired or synchronised operation, while others operate independently. Always check the compatibility and control options of the specific model.
