WELCOME TO SOCIAL HOUSING VENTILATION

Buildings are now being made as energy efficient as possible, sealing in the home so that there are limited ways for fresh air to get into the property to counteract the humidity in the atmosphere, causing damage to the property and health concerns to residents.

The only way to get rid of condensation for good is by adequately ventilating the property. Social housing providers need to take affirmative action to protect their residents and housing stock.

BPC Ventilation Ltd can help with a mix of advice and design options utilising the latest ventilation solutions, plus supply appropriate cost-effective ventilation equipment from leading European manufacturers.

We can also provide your staff with a range of training options, that will enable your staff to offer advice, maintain, and install as required with regards to ventilation systems.

Issues that can arise from inadequate ventilation.

DISREPAIR

Disrepair cases associated with condensation and mould can lead to tenant ill health and damage to assets. For landlords, this can be an expensive and time-consuming issue. At BPC Ventilation Ltd we can help you avoid or resolve costly disrepair cases.

PLANNED MAINTENANCE

Ventilation plays a key role in helping you look after the health and well-being of your resident and protecting the fabric of the building. We can support your long-term plans to help ensure resident health, prevent problems with condensation and mould and reduce ongoing costs.

REACTIVE MAINTENANCE

When something goes wrong this often involves carrying out reactive maintenance. When it comes to ventilation, we can help you solve the problem quickly and easily, allowing you to make sure the resident’s welfare comes first and your property is protected moving forward.

CONDENSATION & MOULD

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors states that 1 in 5 UK homes are affected by condensation and mould growth. Condensation and mould are often caused because of inadequate ventilation for the people in the building. Installing effective ventilation can help control condensation. With a wide variety of cost-effective ventilation solutions, BPC Ventilation Ltd can help both homeowners and landlords tackle condensation and mould.

ADAPTIONS

Ventilation may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about adaptations in the home. However, it is important to recognise that longer showering times and the possibility of multiple bathing requirements per day lead to greater moisture generation which can present a high risk of condensation and mould. According to the NHS, the people most affected by mould are the elderly, children and those with respiratory problems or weakened immune systems.

Therefore, it is so important to offer the correct ventilation to suit the needs of the resident with an adaptation and combat condensation and mould issues.

POSITIVE INPUT VENTILATION (PIV)

Positive input ventilation (PIV) is an energy efficient method of pushing out and replacing stale unhealthy air with clean drier air, by gently pressurising the home and increasing the circulation of air.

DECENTRALISED MECHANICAL EXTRACT VENTILATION

Developed to meet the building regulations for continuous mechanical extract ventilation, the decentralised mechanical extract ventilation (dMEV) range of extractor fans. Installed in wet rooms and utility, our dMEV range helps to draw out moisture laden air from these rooms.

SINGLE ROOM HEAT RECOVERY

Improving air quality on a room-by-room basis, the through-the-wall mounted single room heat recovery (SRHR) range of ventilation units simultaneously extracts stale air and introduces fresh air – warming the incoming airflow with heat recovered from the exhaust stream.

CENTRALISED MECHANICAL EXTRACT VENTILATION (MEV)

This is a whole dwelling ventilation system that supplies and extracts air continuously at a low rate. It is a system where a unit is mounted in a loft or cupboard and ducted to extract polluted air from the wet rooms of the house. The replacement air enters the home through window vents or airbricks.

The unit helps to remove pollutants, such as moisture, carbon dioxide and external fumes helping to maintain good indoor air quality and creating a better living environment.

MECHANICAL VENTILATION WITH HEAT RECOVERY

MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) provides fresh filtered air into a building whilst retaining most of the energy /heat that has already been used in heating the building. Heat Recovery Ventilation is now the ultimate and most cost-effective solution, to the ventilation needs of energy-efficient buildings.

Unique to BPC Ventilation Ltd and specifically developed for social housing: -

DUAL-VENT HEAT RECOVERY (MVHR) SYSTEM

Dual-Vent is an energy and cost-efficient home heat recovery and ventilation system normally installed in the attic that extracts the moist, stale air from kitchens and bathrooms (wet rooms) and replaces it with fresh filtered warm air to a central location hallway or landing which feeds the bedrooms (dry rooms), without letting the heat escape.

This results in the home being fully ventilated throughout the year with fresh healthy air without having to constantly reheat the home due to heat lost through normally required extractor fans and window vents.

In Conclusion

PRIVATE LANDLORDS

It has become increasingly imperative for private landlords & housing associations to provide a safe and healthy environment for occupants that is free from condensation and mould. BPC Ventilation

Ltd can help you deal with problems arising from condensation and mould.

RESIDENT SATISFACTION

Resident satisfaction is a key indicator of a housing provider's success. Effective ventilation methods offer housing associations a simple way to combat condensation and mould quietly and with low

running costs.

TRAINING ACADEMY

The ventilation industry is constantly changing and evolving. So are our customer’s challenges. With constant developments, there is an increasing need to stay ahead of the knowledge curve and that is why we are on hand to offer practical, engaging, and informative training, giving you the confidence to specify and or install our products.

BPC Ventilation Ltd has opened a bespoke & fully equipped ventilation training suite.

The training suite has space for nine delegates, the latest IT teaching aids plus a selection of fully operational MVHR ventilation units complete with associated ducting and air valves etc, this is to allow delegates to have a practical hands-on experience as part of the learning process.

With the new training suite, we can offer:-

CPD Certification Logo

An accredited CPD presentation either in the training suite or online. (One hour duration)

A free one-day ventilation product knowledge & systems awareness course, designed for staff who require training, subjects covered will include: -

Current legislation and ventilation design principals

Different types of approved ventilation systems

What required information to gather from clients

Basic system installation guidelines

Ventilation commissioning principles

The need to have an accredited installer to both install & commission projects

A Domestic Ventilation Systems 3-day course that meets the minimum technical competency requirement for installers looking to apply to join a Competent Person Scheme for Domestic Ventilation Systems.

We are accredited by both NICEIC & City & Guilds as approved trainers.

On successful completion of the above courses, appropriate accreditation certificates will be awarded.
